Introduction


Every year approximately 210* Million people suffer from minor or major bone fractures.Majority of fractures are treated by Cast/splint immobilization using either Plaster of Paris or Fiberglass cast. These casts have an inability to allow skin to breathe leads to moisture build up and ultimately causes skin irritation. Patients also have to take special precaution to avoid water contact with cast because of moisture sensitivity of some of the cast material. Because of that Cast immobilization restricts activities such as swimming, washing affected part etc. Bacterial and fungal infections or pruritic dermatitis can develop beneath a splint or cast because of poor skin hygiene. And these complications are often diagnosed later because of invisibility of the skin. Additionally, currently available casts are heavy and bulky, which results in discomfort in performing daily routines.

FlexiOH™ is designed for such patients having fracture/sprain who are looking for comfortable casts. FlexiOH™ is a cast that is breathable, washable and lightweight unlike conventional casts i.e. Plaster of Paris or Glass Fiber cast. FlexiOH™ gives ultimate comfort while being rigid enough to immobilize bone or joint like conventional casts. The pattern of cast allows skin to breathe, which results in dry and healthy skin throughout the treatment. FlexiOH™ is made up of materials which is water resistant, hence it is washable and gives a patient ultimate freedom to perform routine activity. Application process of FlexiOH™ is very quick and hardly takes 10 minutes. After course of therapy, FlexiOH™ can be removed without use of any other external cast cutter/spreader. Application of FlexiOH™ Cast


To apply FlexiOH™ Short Hand Immobilizer follow the steps shown below :

Step - 1 : Take FlexiOH™ cast from the kit and place it in such a way that thumb holds it like an anchor. Pull immobilizer toward patient’s body and adjust the thumb hold to patent’s comfort level.

Step - 2 : Pull FlexiOH™ cast from both side to wrap it over the hand. It is quite flexible to pull from both zipp line closer to apply zipper.

Step - 3 : To start zipping process, insert insertion pin into retainer box. To do this zipper line needs to be aligned close to each other.

Step - 4 : Now start zipping with the help of puller attached with the retainer box. Take care of below skin and hair follicles for smooth zipping process.

Step - 5 : After zipping, expose FlexiOH™ cast with special curing light RizyCure™ or into direct sunlight for about 3-5 minutes. Try to expose each corners of the cast equally into light so that the cast can be 100% cured.
